Define Phase

Do you have a problem statement which describes the problem without offering solutions?

Do you, your sponsor, and the team agree on the project, problem statement, goals and measures and do you have clear descriptions of each?

Do your project goals pass the “S.M.A.R.T.” test?

Do you have one or at most two clearly identified primary project measures?

What, if any, secondary measures have you identified?

Do you have clearly identified project boundaries, including what is in and out of scope?

Have you identified the key stakeholders?

What are their main concerns and what is your plan for getting buy-in?

Do you have a good, cross-functional team?

Have you created a high level process map (SIPOC diagram)?

Do you understand who your customers are, and what’s most important to them?

Have you met with Finance to understand ways to quantify the project benefits?

Have you updated your project/knowledge notebook and any enterprise project tracking database?
