Optimize Phase

    Have we performed a baseline expected value analysis for each CTC and documented the results?

    Have we performed parameter design and done tolerance allocation?

    What are the optimal values for all of the design parameters?

    Have we worked to balance performance, cost, manufacturability, design complexity, serviceability, etc.?

    How sensitive are the CTC performance measures to changes in the design parameters?

    Have we accomplished a sensitivity analysis and passed those results on to manufacturing?

    What are the sources of variability in the system?

    Which are controllable and which are not?

    How do we control them and what is our method of documenting and maintaining this control?

    Are any of the sources of variability supplier dependent?

    If so, what is the plan to minimize supplier variability and its impact on the system?

    What are the costs in doing so?

  6. 6

    Have we confirmed via process capability studies that the design is indeed producible?

  7. 7

    What gaps and risks still exist in the design?

    What is the action plan to close those gaps and reduce the risks?

  8. 8

    Have we updated the DFSS Scorecard with the knowledge obtained from this phase?
